Heather Hay has played an active part in Vancouver’s music scene since 1989, when she moved to Vancouver to join the Purcell String Quartet, with whom she toured B.C. and Europe, and recorded for Radio France in Paris. Heather is Assistant Principal Cellist with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and in a variety of chamber music ensembles, including the Lincoln House Piano Trio. She has performed with the CBC Radio Orchestra, in West Coast Chamber Music Concerts, Turning Point Ensemble and Vancouver New Music. Heather has also been frequently heard on CBC Radio Two’s regional programme.

Teaching is an important part of Heather’s musical life, as faculty at Capilano University and Saint James Music Academy, and in her private studio. Heather studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Bonnie Hampton. She also studied at Queen’s University and the Banff School of Fine Arts, working with Janos Starker, Zara Nelsova, Aldo Parisot and William Pleeth.
